PERRY RUBENSTEIN GALLERY ANNOUNCES
THIRD CHELSEA EXHIBITION SPACE
534 WEST 24 STREET
AND ITS INAUGURAL EXHIBITION:
DIALOGUE: BALDESSARI, PRINCE, RUSCHA, WOOL
SEPTEMBER 15 – OCTOBER 22, 2005
New York (August 26, 2005)-Perry Rubenstein Gallery is pleased to announce the September 15 opening of a third gallery space in Chelsea at 534 West 24 Street, joining the current two spaces, which both opened in September of 2004. The mission of the new space is to present a historical program that contextualizes and historicizes the totality of the gallery's program.
In its inaugural exhibition, Perry Rubenstein Gallery, 534 West 24 Street, will present Dialogue, an exhibition of important paintings that rely on text, rather than image, as the formal focus. One historic work each by Ed Ruscha and John Baldessari dating from the 1960s will be joined by iconic paintings by Richard Prince and Christopher Wool from the 1980s. Together, the selected works will generate an intergenerational "dialogue" between West Coast and East Coast conceptual artists.
